Yes I keep track of everything. I will cook a long dish for a person and order something similar in length. If they don't deliver in return, the next time they order a long I will cook it and keep it until they deliver mine. If they don't deliver the second time, many times I unfriend the person, because more than likely they have missed other shorter orders as well.

I usually skip the not cooking step and just unfriend because space on my map. I will wait for about a week if there is no activity (no ordering or filling) in case they were away and will try one last time with a very quick order. If they are ordering everyday and have missed 3 out of 5 of my orders, then I unfriend. I am probably harsh, but I cook absolutely every order. If it does go to my counter I actually have my son cook it for me and I gift it if he has the recipe. I limit to 20 friends so its hard for me to keep inconsistent players. I used to have over 30 and was unmanagable.

This past couple weeks I have been ordering more longer dishes in a quest to finally finish my cookbook. I still limited to every other day of long orders unless they were ordering back to back days. Normally I try to mix short, medium, long on people. I have a few friends who don't cook long dishes and they don't order so I am OK with that too. As long as it is fair both ways.

Well, I'm now having some more serious deadbeat issues.

Okay, Longer story short:

3 who've stopped playing, from what I can see.
1 Very low level player who unfriended me - dunno why. I cooked what they asked for, which wasn't much.
1 Midrange player who unfriended me, possibly after reading this post and feeling they'd been called out as a deadbeat… dunno, I never named them, and have no intention of doing so.

…although I do now have a dish of Escargut cooking and no home for it. Well, I'm sure someone will be able to use itwhen I'm done.

Now, every few days I go through my fridge and find everything I can't unlock; raided, gifted, whatever… (anything I already have, no matter how good) and figure out who can use it.
I hand them out to folks who need the recipe. If NO one needs it, it usually ends up on my slush pile of food, along with the stuff cooked for the Critics. ;) Hey, it keeps me in business. Actually cooking GOOD food for my own tables is a rare event, when you're cooking for a dozen and a half others or so…

Question for the group:
how much leeway do you (those who keep track) give to someone before you:
-stop cooking long dishes…
-stop cooking for them…
-unfriend them?

While we're on the subject of cooking for/ordering from others in general - How often do you order LONG Dishes (call it 16+Hrs) from others? every 3 days? 5? once a week? daily? ;)

Since the new update, it has been great for me. I actually get to visit other cafes without any issues like I had before, I can now fulfill almost all orders and get some in return. Before I used to go over a week without being ablke to get to 'friends' cafes and it was killing me cause i would never be able to fulfill orders.
So in conclusion, problems might have been with access to your cafe to drop orders off.

I have one friend who's order goes to the counter everytime! It has only happened occaisonally with everyone else. Does anyone else have this problem with a particular friend?

I keep track of orders only because i try to order longer items from people who order from me to be fair. And also when it goes to the counter I will gift the item instead if I have it my fridge as I have a lot of food there.

I cook all orders I get. Unfortunately some burn and lately a lot is getting served instead of going to the fridge, which I hate when it's a dish worth 1 each serving… So sorry to those who don't get their dishes from me, just keep trying!

I get the occasional random GC invite… I usually wait about 48 hours before adding someone I don't recognize, as I try to figure out who, if anyone, we both know. By the time I'd added him, the latest one seems to not be playing ZC anymore. AT least, they're not leveling, has almost no recipes, and aren't ordering or filling orders.

I might not mind if his cafe was a raidable design. ;)

Hi Stashkitty, thanks to your input i managed to identify and unfriend 11 inactive players.
I have tried to sign up for an account couple times but I haven't received the confirmation email they sent to my inbox.
Until then, if you don't mind please add me as a friend (GC: i.am.toh) or maybe you could post my GC in your status and ask them to add me.
Another question, I haven't received any order for the past 48hours. I am connected to the internet and to ZC servers because I received the limited 5toxin painting offer. I don't know if it's just a bug or if I'm green. What should I do?

I identify inactive players through gamecenter. If you look at your list of friends and then click on each name you'll see a list of their games. Click on "Zombie Cafe" and it will tell you what date they last played. If they haven't played in a while, off they go. If I don't keep my number of friends below 50, then they start to disappear and the only way to get them back is to delete until I get below 50 again.

I am level 25, have complete cookbook and too many inactive friends. Lately, ive noticed that some of my friends have probably stopped playing as they no longer cooking, leveling and ordering from me eventho their cookbook is far from complete.
The only thing that keeps me playing this game is friends orders. So im gonna start deleting lowlevel friends with incomplete cookbook yet never order food from me.
I need to do that because the max number of friends that appear in the game is only48. So if you have more than that, you won't find the rest in your map or friends' list in start menu.
So if you want orders filled, you can add me. But please be patient, as im in the process of removing friends to reach that max number 48.
One more thing, do not send me, gift me anything in return. If I need anything, i'll place my orders.
@stashkitty, i'll be grateful if you could refer me to your active friends.

I never intended this thread to become a place to attack individuals. I was frustrated by people who ordered a lot and didn't seem to return the favor. Just venting, not name calling.

Since then, I've collected all of the recipes. That means it is rare that I need to order anything. So I fill a LOT more orders than I place. I have too many friends and get a LOT more orders than I can possibly fill. I guess I've mellowed. I unfriend people when they stop playing actively. I have too many friends and can't see them all, which means some orders linger in my fridge waiting until I can get the friend to appear again. So I need to make room when I can and that means removing inactive players. I have no way to know who who cooks back anymore.

My life is very hectic right now with a remodel of my house. My zombies are being particularly stupid with mice pudding and at least half the pudding I cook winds up on the counter. I burn a lot of pudding too because the window for getting it off the stove is short and the stupid push notification system isn't working. It was extremely rare that I burned a dish when pushes were working.

What I suggest now, for people dealing with deadbeats, or people they just don't like, is to make yourself feel better by raiding them, then unfriend them and move on. I know I will not meet some people's criteria of a good neighbor because a lot of orders don't get filled. That's okay. They can kill my mini-me (my chef) if it helps them feel better about it, and unfriend me. It's just a game.

The deadbeat above MrSue88 added me in the evening in our timezone, i added him just at 10 pm
and ordered a meal then at midnight i ordered again. whats wrong with that?

I accepted all my orders especially with new friends, short or long orders.
some friends ordered twice at around 3pm , so im guessing they also are in their
midnight timezone.

I never record my orders, even if they dont give me theirs, I still give out what i can give

if you're too selfish to give out your meals, stop playing this game.
I dont need selfish deadbeats like you.

and that other reasons you have that you give at least 1 dish for the burned ones

I unfriended someone who had this as their status: "Don't send me crap orders, I'll send them right back".
I wonder what their definition of 'crap' is? If it's a variation I haven't unlocked yet, I don't care if it's Mystery Meat or Lady Fingers! And even ones I've unlocked, I keep in the fridge until I store up enough variations to share a round with all my neighbours (around 30), seeing what they haven't unlocked first and gifting those.
What is it with these rude neighbours! I had another who ordered VS Worm and then VQ Worm the next day, the first within 5 mins of coming on board.
I'm horrified if I make a mistake (sorry to Tatas18, Ltshift and Deemoded for recent accidental burnings and rejections - stupid fat fingers) and I gift at least 1 dish they haven't unlocked and preferably 2 if I have them to make up for it.

Mhm,

I get so worried when food goes to the counter. If you don't get an order from me pronto, please re-order cuz i will cook that ish.
I do wish there was a way to see who the food was for when that happens cuz i always feel bad about it.
Also, I usually just assume that if my order doesn't get filled it's because it went to the counter or something ill. Most people seem to be good about handling it all though… maybe i got lucky with the friends I made ;)

Same here. I might start deleting people i added because they cant fill a simple order. I just want to complete my collection. I actually make every dish that comes my way. When i send a request i usually send a little dish as well as a token of my appreciation. But if people cant make dishes i request then they are abusing my generosity. And trust me, ive been pretty generous to quite a few folks on zombie cafe.

I've found that orders go to counter when GC is playing up. I'm testing whether logging in to GC before I play ie pretending I want to change my notifications and then cancelling will help.

I also purged a few non-cookers early in the week as I cook absolutely everything and am happy with a couple of times a week in return but some people don't even do that. Barring unforeseen counter mishaps of course and then I keep variations in my fridge which I gift to the person I missed after checking to see what they don't have.

I keep a log of everything I order and everything ordered from me to keep track and prevent the bug where it doesn't give you the name of the cafe who ordered.

So add me in you like as I'm looking for good cooking friends. MrSue99.

Sometimes when I burn my food or the dish goes to the counter I have no way of telling woh ordered the dish.

I've been your friend in Zombie Cafe for quite a while now. I read your info. on Game Center so I tend to always make orders that are short enough to do that I don't have and you tend to order a variation of that same dish as compensation. So far, I don't think I've burned or got a dish that ended up on the counter for you yet.

Anyways, I really try not to be a deadbeat. I try to stay loyal to my friends in game even by keeping them around if I know their entire menu so I can help them by still taking their orders, give gifts for them, help raise them in level, etc.

For those who know me: I realize I make a whole lot more money by cooking than serving food out so I am going to try to fill every order I get (I hate how our order list get maxed out, and throws out previous orders). I really hate the long ones especially over a day (I don't cheat in the game so I don't do the time hacks), but I will try to complete them. I just hope my zombies can last long enough and don't end up depleted and burn the stupid dish being cooked.

Oooooh….so that's why when I made my first friends no one wanted to make frozen fetidccine….hahaha….and I was a level 8 xD. I eventually understood how it goes but in hindsight it's funny. And thanks all for telling me about ZombieCafe Raid, I thought it was fake but now I know how to get more recipes.

i started at 26May never had this order going to counter till the lastest update(31may) if i am not wrong, i believe itz just a bug, anyway i always wait GC to load up at my ZC main menu before operating my cafe. but still it dun seems to work everyday i get lots of shorts order(lucky for me). I believe only i have a miss order once or twice a day. the only middle orders that went miss is a 16hr dish & 20hr. countless of small orders went to counter btw :p

The only thing I have actually been able to pin down to cause this issue for me: If the notice that my order is done cooking pops up and I choose the cancel option instead of visit cafe, that order always goes to my food pile. It's like the game is mad that I didn't want to play it right then. Since I have figured that out I hardly ever lose orders. Sometimes I do just because I'm too involved with something else to bother with ZC (normally a phone call). Hope that helps someone out!

I just tried to trigger the order>food counter bug. I failed. Here's what I tried:
After I received an order from a friend I turned off wifi and started cooking his order. I felt positive that it would wind up in my food pile. No avail, it went to my fridge where it was supposed to. Of course I had to turn wifi back on to deliver his order. My point is that I apparently proved myself wrong. Strength of wifi signal apparently has less to do with triggering the bug than I thought. I had no signal at all and was still able to fill a friends order.

For me it's the same like devlinholic posted, many orders go to the counter since the update, it only happend 2 or 3 times before the update. Sorry for everyone who didn't get a delivery the last few days because of the bug, I cook almost everything (had 2 x Frozen Tumor Melt (4d) + Fetidccine (3d) on my stoves at the same time, thankfully nothing went to the counter).

i am mostly cooking/deliver *& ordering everyday lolx. Just axe some neighbours who order 2days cooktime nextday 1day plus,when they have not even fill up their 2min or 5mins dish. it seems they are running my cafe lolx…

In my experience orders go to the counter when I start cooking an order while my wifi signal is weak or non-existent, although there are probably additional causes that trigger this bug. Oftentimes I will start an order when wifi is available and 'serve' it without a source of Internet. The dish always (as far as I can recall) winds up going to my fridge, where it should. These days if an order does happen to wind up in my food pile, I order it from myself (2nd FB accnt), and then gift it to whoever originally ordered it. Just like with any other friend you can only order from self, collect fees, and raid self 1x/day however. Btw, no need to gift me, it's my pleasure to help you max out your recipe book. Unless the gift is vf anti-hero or vf stake tar tar I'll probably re-gift it back to you. I only serve those two dishes. Order anything, enjoy. :-)

Two things I've learned about the fridge:
1. If you are connected to the Internet, orders are more likely to make it to the fridge
2. If the fridge is closer than any counter, orders are more likely to make it

I haven't lost an order to the counter when following these two rules.

Keeping track of incoming orders gives you a chance to offer an "I'm sorry" gift when an order is lost.

I can understand not filling orders over a certain length. I can respect a person who states that policy on GC instead of leaving me guessing. What burns me is a person who places long orders but won't fill them. Everyone knows you get a better payoff for shorter dishes. But I'm a recipe collector and several of the recipes I want are lengthy ones, so I have to be willing to cook lengthy dishes for others.

A good neighbor list sounds good in theory, but in practice it would be easy to use a pseudonym to nominate oneself.

I don't keep track of who never fill my order, or who order what, but I have a feeling several of my neighbors always don't come through on my order. I might start doing a record soon… I think I rejected only couple orders because they're like 1-2 day order.

I state on my gc that I don't do 12+ hour order (because I'm afraid it'll go to my fridge) but if some good neighbor order, I still cook for them.

Maybe we all should do a record and put list of good neighbors here, not the bad ones…just good ones.

I've been weeding out deadbeats this week and I had more than I realized. I started keeping records and found I had a half dozen who order long dishes but never fill them. I've lost two long dishes (went to counter). So I can understand the occasional order not getting filled. But each of those I unfriended failed to deliver three long dishes I had ordered after delivering similar dishes (often just a different variation on the same base recipe). Each. They must be burning or serving the bulk of their cooking…or they're simple deadbeats who order but don't reciprocate.

One person who states on GC they won't fill orders over 18 hours never-the-less orders them from me.

Another I unfriended after a week of not one delivery and nearly daily orders actually tried to friend me again.

On the flip side, I have some really wonderful friends who seem to always or close to always come through. I feel good about cooking long dishes for them though it's a strain on my zombies and limits my raids, because I know they are willing to do the same for me. I make an effort to look through my fridge for dishes they don't have when I visit and leave them as gifts, as a sort of thank you.

Most fall somewhere in between, as you would expect. As I said, I've lost dishes too, so it's okay if they don't always come through so long as they don't seem to be just using me.

So I wiped out a quarter of my friends list and am still waiting on two more to see if they manage to deliver any of three orders I've placed this week before tossing them too.
